Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Location

Does the Bangkok Airport have a hotel inside? It does!

The Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel is not just conveniently located near the the Bangkok International Airport – it is actually connected to it. This insanely convenient location makes the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is the best hotel near the Bangkok airport.

Suvarnabhumi is pronounced like “soo·waan·aa·poom”.

And if you are wondering can you walk from Novotel Bangkok to the airport, the answer is yes. While the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle, it is an easy five minute walk to the hotel via an underground, air-conditioned walkway on the lowest floor of the airport terminal.

If you would rather take the shuttle, pick up is located at arrival level 2F, gate 4. Reservations for the shuttle are not necessary, and passengers are served on a first come, first served basis.

Note that the hotel is located outside of security, so you will need to go through this process if you are flying out of the Bangkok airport.

Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Lobby & Check In

The Novotel Bangkok Airport Hotel has a beautiful and expansive lobby area. It is accessible from the road like a normal hotel, but if you are arriving on foot from the airport, you will actually take an escalator directly into the hotel lobby from the airport tunnel.

The lobby of the hotel is stunning, featuring an atrium style, floral arrangements, indoor trees, and water features. It feels more like a luxury hotel than it does an airport hotel.

The lobby’s atrium spans over six stories high, with multiple elevators available. Many of the rooms face into the lobby with an atrium view.

The best feature of the Novotel Bangkok Airport Hotel is that there are no specific check-in and check-out times like a regular hotel. You may check in whenever your flight arrives, and you will have exactly 24hours from that time to check out.

This check-in policy makes the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi the perfect choice for early morning or late night arrivals.

Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Standard King Room

During our stay at the Novotel Suvarnabhumi in April 2023, we stayed in a Superior King Room. However, since our visit the hotel has renamed its room classes. This room is now referred to as the Standard King Room. It is the most affordable entry level room at the hotel.

Room Stats

  • 34.5 sq m / 1 bed / 1 bath / Sleeps 2
  • Features: Oversize bathtub
  • Technology: Satellite TV, WiFi
  • Amenities: Coffee and tea maker, bottled water, minibar, separate shower and bath tub, bathrobes, slippers, bath amenities, hair dryer, work desk, safe, sound proofing, double-glazed windows, blackout curtains

The bedroom area of this room features a very comfortable king size bed, two nightstands, and built-in lamps. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept very soundly – though it could have been the jet lag.

Oddly enough, there is a large glass window looking out from the bathroom into the bedroom area, directly above the bath tub. While there is a blind that can be drawn, we did find this a little strange.

The bedroom area also features a work station desk, dresser with a television, and a reading chair with lamp.

The room also features blackout curtains, sound proofing, and double-paned windows. We didn’t hear any airport noise at all in this hotel during our stay.

The room also offers tea and coffee making facilities, as well as glass bottled water. There is a mini bar, but in our room it was not stocked with any items for purchase. Luckily, we had stopped at a 7-11 in the airport for snacks on the walk to the room.

At the entry way you will find a decent sized closet with two robes and slippers, an electronic safe, and shoe storage compartments.

The bathroom is large and fully enclosed behind a door. It features double sinks, a standalone glass shower, separate bath tub, and toilet.

Of course, the most interesting feature is a large window from the bathroom to the bedroom area directly above the bathtub.

Complimentary toiletries include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotions, soap, an amenity kit, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower cap, and a sewing kit. There is also a hair dryer and magnifying mirror.

We were also provided with additional drinking water in the restroom.

Tap water is not safe for consumption in Thailand. Don’t drink from the tap or brush your teeth with it.

Overall, the Standard King Room was sophisticated, comfortable, spacious, and clean. It was way more than we could have hoped for in an airport hotel.

Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Dining

Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi offers a total of six restaurants on site, all located off of the lobby. The restaurants cater to a variety of traveler palates, including international, Thai, Chinese, and Japanese.

Novotel Suvarnabhumi Restaurants

  • The Square (International Buffet)
  • Touchdown Sports Bar (International)
  • Golden Village (Chinese)
  • Kinsen Restaurant (Japanese)
  • Sala Thai (Thai)
  • Le Gourmet (Coffee & Deli)

There hotel also features two bars, the Atrium Lounge in the Lobby and the Splash Pool Bar at the outdoor pool. Room service is also available.

During our visit, we had breakfast at the The Square. The Square offers an international buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it is open as early as 3AM.

The breakfast buffet offered a ton of great options. We had coffee, juice, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, french toast, and more. The food and service were great.

Unfortunately, we were on a very quick layover, so we were not able to try the other restaurants.

Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Amenities

The Novotel Bangkok Hotel offers an impressive array of amenities for an airport hotel. Other than the restaurants, the hotel offers a lobby bar, business center, 24hr fitness center, on-site spa, outdoor pool, and a pool bar.

The outdoor pool courtyard is way more than I expected for an airport hotel. There are beautiful statues, water features, and lush tropical plants and trees.

This outdoor area feels more like a tropical resort rather than an airport hotel pool area!

The pool is massive, and there is even a pool bar so you can enjoy a cocktail or two. You won’t feel so bad leaving your Thailand resort if there is where you can wait for your flight at!

As our layover was very short, we didn’t have time to enjoy the pool area. However, we would have had a mini vacation here if we did have time

How much does it cost?

Rates at the Novotel Suvarnabhumi begin around $120/night USD without breakfast, or $150/night USD with breakfast. Of course, rates do vary seasonally as well as by occupancy.

During our stay in April, which happened to fall during a major Thai holiday, we paid $166/night. This included taxes, fees, and our breakfast.

Overall we felt this was good a price for a sophisticated hotel with nice amenities and convenience you just can’t beat. We highly recommend this hotel for your next layover in Bangkok.
