Location & How to Get There

Heaven at the Hard Rock is located in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, in the state of Quintana Roo. The resort is situated along an area of the Riviera Maya coast know as Playa Aventuras. Playa Aventuras is situated about halfway between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum, and about an hour’s drive from the airport in Cancun.
To get to Heaven at the Hard Rock, you will fly into the Cancun International Airport (Airport Code: CUN). Many large airlines fly into Cancun from the US, including Southwest, American, Delta, United, and JetBlue. This means flight costs are typically pretty low. Click here to compare flights!

It is important to note that the Cancun airport is extremely hectic. Wait times in customs can be extremely long. It is not uncommon for it to take up to two hours to get through! Make sure you factor this into your travel plans.
Prior to departing, make sure you have arranged ground transportation with the resort. The resort charges by the vehicle (regardless of number of passengers), starting at $134 one way. This is very competitive with other transfer services I’ve booked, so I highly recommend you book the resort’s recommended affiliated transport to make things easy.

Staying in a Deluxe Gold Room

During my trip to Heaven, myself and another bridesmaid stayed in the standard Deluxe Gold room with two double beds and a garden view on the first floor. While quite small, the room was extremely chic and made good use of the space.
The Deluxe Gold suite is available with the choice of either one king bed or two double beds. There is a minibar area and a small table with two chairs. Our room had a nice patio on the first floor with an extremely comfortable hammock.

It is important to note the restroom vanity area and shower is open concept, with only the toilet receiving a separate room for privacy. The vanity had double sinks and an oversized full-length mirror, so it was great for two people to get ready.
There is also a spa tub by the bed. I will note that it is literally just a foot or two away from one of the beds in the double bed version.
Staying in a Deluxe Sky Terrace One Bedroom

The bride and groom selected the Deluxe Sky Terrace One Bedroom as their honeymoon suite, and this is also where we hung out and got ready for the wedding. The suite is very good size, and easily accommodated our bridal party of about seven plus photographer and wedding planner.

This suite is actually a two-story suite, with one level for the room and a second rooftop level, complete with lounge chairs and a jacuzzi. Without spending large sums on a Rock suite, this is probably the best class of standard room you can get at Heaven.
Pools at Heaven at Hard Rock
Heaven at Hard Rock has several different pools for you to enjoy. There is the main Central Pool, which is where most of the action takes place. This pool is know for loud music, entertainment, and foam parties. If you want to see or be seen, this is the pool to be at!

Should you be looking for more of a swim, Heaven also has the Semi-Olympic Pool. And those with upgraded rooms will have access to the exclusive Cross Current Rhythm Pool.

Beaches at Heaven at Hard Rock
While Heaven has an extremely large beach, it is important to note that the beach is man-made and fronts a lagoon rather than the actual ocean. While some might consider this to be a con, I suspect that this shelters the resort’s beach from the effects of Sargassum seaweed – so it may actually be a benefit in current times.

Bali Beds at the beach are available to rent for the day at additional cost. Those who do recieve upgraded drinks, snacks, and waiter or butler service.

Something interesting you may hear about Heaven at Hard Rock is rumors about a clothing-optional or topless beach. A Google search yields a true mixture of results. Some say swimsuits are optional at the Eden Pool & Beach part of the resort, and yet others say this is definitely not the case! When I visited, a couple members of the wedding party said they did find it, and it was indeed alright to go topless. However, I am just not 100% sure and didn’t check it out personally.

Food & Restaurants at Heaven
Heaven has a plethora of dining options available – all of which are completely included in your rate. As a Heaven guest, you are able to enjoy the restaurants at both the Heaven and Hacienda sides of the resort.

Several of the restaurants located at Heaven are strictly adults only. These include French cuisine at Le Petit Chocon, Latin American fare at Los Gallos, and Italian at Ciao.
Options open to families include Toro, serving steak and International; Pizzetto, offering pizza and pasta; Zen, a sushi and hibachi restaurant; and Frida, which cooks up Mexican fare.
If you enjoy buffets, then you won’t want to miss the breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets at The Market.
And for snacks, coffee, tea, and a continental breakfast, make sure you check out Cafetto. Snacks are also available at many of the bars as well.
Our favorite meal by far was at Zen, where our large group was able to experience Hibachi dining.
All of the restaurants at Hard Rock have a casual dress code. That means men can get away with wearing a nice shirt (i.e., polo or collared) along with a nice pair of shorts and nice sandals. No bathinsuits, we clothing, or pool flip flops are allowed.
Bars & Drinks at Heaven

At Heaven there is a bar for every kind of guest to enjoy. Martini Bar is an outdoor bar focusing on martinis, but also offering additional top-shelf spirits. Those who enjoy a thrilling party will want to visit Club Heaven Bar & Disco for drinks while dancing to the live DJ music. And for those looking to unwind, Rhythm Bar focuses on premium cocktail selections and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Heaven guests also have full access to the Hacienda family-friendly side of Hard Rock. There are two bars at Hacienda to enjoy: Float by the pool and Sun off the lobby.
In addition, each room is stocked with a minibar with domestic beer, bottled water, and juice.
Entertainment & Activities at Heaven
Heaven has plenty of entertainment and activities to keep you busy. You’ll find some of the liveliest pool parties in Riviera Maya during the daytime. Think loud music, foam parties, and dance competitions. And of course, Hard Rock is one of the best resorts for nightlife and clubbing.
Other activities include Rock guitar lessons and access to an 18-hole golf course (included with your stay with just a small service fee due).
Pampering is available at the Legendary Rock Spa as well as the Rock Salon. And for those wanting to stay active during their trip, there are daily fitness classes and a traditional gym at the Body Rock Fitness Center.
There are also experiences that you can add on for an additional cost, such as wine or tequila tastings and romantic dinners.
Weddings & Honeymoons at Heaven

I did attend a destination wedding at Heaven and do believe this is a great resort for many wedding parties. We had eight in the wedding party and about twenty guests, which the resort was easily able to accommodate.

Heaven’s wedding planners planned a very easy and stress-free beach wedding and indoor hall reception. I’m not sure of the cost, but the services and package was extremely professional, and it seems as if they were used to planning such events regularly.

If you are looking to travel with a group, Heaven fits the bill. And if children are in the group, those families can easily stay in the Hacienda side. Additionally, the resorts rates are very reasonable, so cost most likely would not be a barrier for attendees.

If you are looking for a honeymoon resort, it’s important to note that Heaven focuses on excitement and nightlife. With that in mind, I don’t think it is the most romantic resort. For a more romance-focused option, I would recommend checking out my guide to Excellence resorts.
Vibe & Demographics

Heaven is an extremely lively resort, perfect for groups of friends traveling together. The resort is very focused on nightlife and entertainment, with loud pool parties (including foam parties) during the day and hopping nightclubs to dance the night away. With that in mind, the resort seems the most appealing to travelers in their 20s, and that appeared to be the majority of the guests’ age during our stay.
If you are looking for excitement, activity, loud music, and parties, this is your resort. If you are looking for a resort more focused on romance or relaxation, you may want to look elsewhere. Click here for more Mexico travel resources!
Cost of a Trip to Heaven
As my stay was a couple of years ago and subsidized by the bride and groom, I don’t have exact figures for my three-night stay on hand. However, in checking a similar date this year in May, rates begin around $370/night for two for a Deluxe Suite. If you are interested in the upgraded Deluxe Sky Terrace, rates begin around $470/night. Flights vary, but direct flights from the US typically range from $400-$600 per person round trip.
