Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion Room Tour {Krabi, Thailand}
Welcome to the Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion #3-28!
We stayed at the Rayavadee resort in this amazing two story pavilion suite during a recent trip to Krabi, Thailand.
If you’re wondering what the Terrace Pavilion is like and if it’s worth the cost, then keep reading for a full review and tour of this amazing jungle room.
Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion: Overview
The Terrace Pavilion is a two-story pavilion style accommodation. It features a large outdoor terrace seating area off the living room in addition to the small standard front patio.
This suite is an upgraded version of the entry-level Rayavadee Deluxe Pavilion. Its floor plan and finishes are identical, with the addition of the large terrace area.
Room Stats
Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion: Exterior
All of the pavilions at Rayavadee are completely free standing and set amongst a lush jungle landscape. You will not find any traditional hotel rooms or shared walls here.
Although the pavilions are set within a stone’s throw of one another, each one feels extremely private and shielded by foliage.
You can often see (and hear) wild monkeys playing in the trees by your room, which is so magical.
After a walk along the jungle foot paths, you will find your pavilion marked by your room number along the path.
Just in front of your pavilion is a handy foot wash station.
It is custom in Thailand to remove your shoes outside the front door. However, the staff recommended we keep our shoes inside, so the monkeys don’t steal them!
Located at the front of the Terrace Pavilion is a small patio furnished with a bistro table set. This is the standard patio that comes with every class of pavilion.
Note, this area is covered by a foliage canopy, and thus not sheltered from the elements.
Keep your doors closed and personal belongings inside at all times. The monkeys have been known to invite themselves in to raid the minibar!
Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion: First Floor
The Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion is made up of two full stories of private living.
The living area is located on the first floor of the pavilion along with a half bath. The second floor houses the bedroom and ensuite.
The main floor of the Terrace Pavilion features a living room with minibar, large outdoor terrace space, and convenient half bathroom.
The living room area contains a large couch, side chair, television, coffee table, and minibar.
One feature I really appreciated was a wicker picnic-style basket and pairs of his and hers flip flops were provided for use around the resort.
The flips flops were nice quality and the basket extremely useful. We used it over the regular beach tote we packed.
A complimentary bottle of champagne was waiting for us on the coffee table, as well as a bowl of tropical fruit. There was also drawers containing plates, cutlery, and napkins for two.
On the coffee table we found helpful brochures and informational print outs regarding our stay.
The minibar is located next to the television in the living room.
There is a tray set up with tea supplies, mugs, and snacks. It swivels out to reveal a compartment with bottled water, an ice bucket, glasses, and a selections of teas.
In a refrigerator located below, you will find a selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
The glass bottled water, tea items, and jar of cookies are complimentary. All other items are for purchase.
We felt that the majority of the minibar items were reasonably priced. However, personally we felt the champagne and wine were extremely overpriced for some reason.
Off the living room is the half bathroom, which has a commode and a bidet. It was nice having a restroom on both levels of the suite.
On the other side of the living room is the stairs to the second floor. Since the stairs is completely open to the bedroom upstairs, there is a door located at the bottom of the staircase.
We appreciated the separation and ability to lock the door incase housekeeping came unexpectedly while we were upstairs.
Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion: Bedroom
The bedroom is spacious with a large, comfortable king bed in the center.
With it’s curved shape, rich woods, and distinct Thai style, the pavilion gives off a distinct treehouse-like vibe.
There is only one nightstand, however, there is a large shelf-style headboard you can use to store items behind you.
The nightstand also has complimentary bottled water.
There is a desk and chair near the window, which has a really cool old-fashioned style bluetooth speaker.
We did have to unplug the speaker and hide it at night however, because the light was very bright.
In lieu of a closet the room has a built-in wardrobe. The TV is located here as well.
The wardrobe contains hanging space, shoe cubbies, plenty of hangers, slippers, robes, and a safe.
There is also a vanity area at the top of the stairs, next to the saloon doors to the restroom.
I looked everywhere in the bathroom for the hair dryer! It ended up being in the vanity drawer.
Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion: Restroom
Through the saloon doors you will find a very large en suite restroom.
The restroom has double sinks, a glass shower, and a separate soaking tub.
As a bath person, I was really excited about the pedestal bath tub. I definitely took a few cool baths after being in the heat and humidity all day.
The toilet is located in a separate water closet with a full door for privacy.
Rayavadee provides a very nice array of toiletries and bath amenities.
There were ample towels of all sizes, glass water for brushing your teeth, and a magnified mirror.
We were also provided with full-size bottles of lotion, shampoo, and conditioner and a high-quality loofah.
Additional small toiletries were available as well (toothbrush, tooth paste, shower cap, bar soap, etc).
For those needing fresh clothes, laundry service is available at an additional cost. Simply place your items in the hamper and fill out the paperwork.
Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion: Outdoor Terrace
The Rayavadee Terrace Pavilion’s signature feature is its covered outdoor terrace.
This terrace is what sets the Terrace Pavilion apart from the entry-level Deluxe Pavilion suite.
The patio is accessible from your front entrance path. The living room also has screened French doors that open up to the patio.
The terrace is furnished with large outdoor couch, a table, a side chair, and a coffee table.
While you are in close proximity to the pedestrian paths, the terrace area is surrounded by lush plant life. This does offer an illusion of privacy.
Deluxe Pavilion vs. Terrace Pavilion
Which room is better – the Deluxe Pavilion or the Terrace Pavilion? Is the Terrace Pavilion worth the upgrade?
The Deluxe Pavilion is the standard entry level room, while the Terrace Pavilion is the next step up.
However, the floor plans are 100% identical. The only difference between the two room classes is the addition of the Terrace Pavilion’s large outdoor terrace.
As the Rayavadee is quite pricey, we originally booked the entry-level Deluxe Pavilion.
However, we were offered a free upgrade to the Terrace Pavilion by booking direct and being a member of the Leaders Club, the hotel’s free rewards program.
If you are weighing between booking the Deluxe and Terrace, consider how much time you will be spending outside at your room.
We actually did not utilize our outdoor space due to the extreme heat and humidity. It probably would have been a nice feature doing coolers months or rainy season.
Personally, we felt it was a nice free upgrade, but don’t think we would have paid the difference in price for the terrace without it.
How much does Rayavadee cost?
What does it cost to stay at Rayavadee? We love sharing our cost details with you.
Keep in mind that we paid for the entry level Deluxe Pavilion, but were upgraded to the Terrace Pavilion at no additional charge.
We traveled during shoulder season in April 2023, at a nightly rate of $568/night. This rate includes both the room and daily breakfast.
Low season rates for the Deluxe Pavilion begin around $480/night and the Terrace Pavilion around $650/night.
High season rates fall around $700/night for the Deluxe Pavilion and $1050/night for the Terrace Pavilion.
Note that that we have provided costs in UDF, though the resort utilizes Thai Baht (THB). Conversion rates may vary.
